Whether it’s your first time at Phoenix Raceway or a tradition you look forward to every year, a bit of planning can make your race weekend far smoother and more enjoyable. From avoiding traffic delays to staying comfortable under the Arizona sun, here are a few useful tips to help you get the most out of your visit.
Getting to the track early is the easiest way to reduce stress, especially on Sunday (gates open in the early morning, about 7-8 AM on race day). Aim to arrive by late morning so you can explore the Fan Zone, enjoy the pre-race atmosphere, and check out interactive displays before the biggest crowds and traffic build up.
Fans may bring their own snacks and drinks, which can be a good way to save money during a long day at the track. Keep in mind that only small quantities of personal food and one sealed bottle of water per person are allowed. The weather in October/November is usually pleasant, with warm afternoons and cooler evenings, so light clothing, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle are all smart choices.
Traffic tends to get busy near the speedway before major events, so plan your route ahead of time and allow for extra travel time. General parking is free, but the lots nearest the entrances fill quickly, making an early arrival well worth it.
Once inside, take some time to explore before heading to your seat. The Fan Zone and midway areas are full of displays, food stands, and official merchandise trailers. If you’re attending with friends or family, keep in mind that cell service can slow down when the crowd grows. Choose a clear meeting point in advance in case you get separated.
